Around the world people are recognizing the importance of our ancient relationship with pigments. As more research is conducted on how the human brain developed with the help of earth pigments like red iron oxide, limonite and manganese, we begin to see how inextricably bound we are to this Earth, mentally, spiritually and physically. PRI celebrates this bond and as we see people replacing synthetic paints with paint made from natural materials, we also see people re-engaging with the Earth and others as they forage for and share pigments with one another. It is becoming clear that pigments are a nexus for all disciplines and a gathering point for people; PRI, with this website and our organization is working hard to ensure knowledge of and practices around pigments is restored and shared with everyone.
