          Call for Speakers

As the end of 2024 approaches, we at PRI are working hard on programming for 2025, As we begin scheduling speakers for Pigments Talk, we are seeking people who have a project or research that will contribute to PRI's efforts to educate people about pigments. Or, would you like to recommend someone?

We are interested in all fields associated with pigments, but would especially like to connect with people who are working on the relationship between pigments and cultural practices, waste-stream and other innovative pigment work, new research into pigment use, and pigments in education.

Do you have an idea for a topical event such as a discussion group, a panel, behind-the-scenes, field trip or, whatever else sparks your imagination? Do you have suggestions for online activities, or how-tos? Let us know; all our programming is designed to help share knowledge across disciplines and from diverse perspectives.

Array of paint colors made at Camp Tabonuco, Puerto Rico

Around the world  people are recognizing the importance of our ancient relationship with pigments. As more research is conducted on how the human brain developed with the help of earth pigments like red iron oxide, limonite and manganese, we begin to see how inextricably bound we are to this Earth, mentally, spiritually and physically. PRI celebrates this bond and as we see people replacing synthetic paints with paint made from natural materials, we also see people re-engaging with the Earth, others, and themselves as they forage for and share pigments with one another.

It is becoming clear that pigments are a nexus for all disciplines and a both a connecting and gathering point for people; PRI, with this website and our organization is working hard to ensure we keep connecting with each other, the land and ourselves while we make certain knowledge of and practices around pigments is restored and shared with everyone.
